Hip prosthesis

A hip prosthesis is a device surgically inserted to replace a damaged or worn hip due to conditions such as osteoarthritis, for example. Successfully completed, it helps the patient regain good mobility.

Before the surgery

Before the procedure is conducted, the surgeon runs out a series of tests to assess the patient’s general health. Consultation with a cardiologist and anesthetist are required, as well as blood and urine tests. Once he is satisfied with the results, the surgeon proceeds to schedule the surgery.

Your stay in our clinic

During your stay in Tunisia for your hip prosthesis surgery, our medical staff will guide you throughout the whole procedure. From your entering into the clinic until your discharge, we make sure that your procedure is carried out in the right conditions.

After the surgery

After the surgery, the doctor usually recommends a 3 weeks period in a rehabilitation Centre for recovery. Stitches are removed 15 days after the procedure and regular consultations are required and conducted to check the evolution of the healing process.

The rehabilitation time is not long. It takes 3 to 5 sessions per week, for at least two months.
